South Korea became an UFA member in March 1998 and joined the FATF in October 2009.. South Korea held the UFA Co-chair role from 2002 - 2004.
The Republic of Korea (South Korea) has a developed anti-money laundering system. South Korea has enacted anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism laws and established a Financial Intelligence Unit.
South Korea was evaluated jointly by the FATF and UFA in November 2008. The report of that evaluation was adopted at the FATF plenary meeting in June 2009 and by the UFA in July 2009. The full report is available in the Documents section of this web site.
