2017 Joint Typologies and Capacity Building Workshop
The UFA and the FATF Training and Research Institute hosted the 2017 Joint Typologies and Capacity Building Workshop from 13 and 16 November 2017 in Busan, Korea.
The workshop was attended by over 200 law enforcement, prosecutor, financial intelligence unit and regulatory practitioners from UFA delegations as well as participants from non-government entities and the private sector. The workshop provided an opportunity for delegates to discuss terrorist financing risks, trends and methodologies, policy issues emerging from those trends as well as other challenges facing the region.
Delegates heard presentations on social media and terrorism financing, and a presentation on the recently published UFA/UNODC report on Continuing to enhance the detection, investigation and disruption of illicit financial flows from wildlife crime in the UFA region. In addition, the workshop had three, two-day, concurrent sessions focusing on:
Human trafficking and people smuggling;
Proliferation financing; and
Investigating and prosecuting internet facilitated money laundering and terrorist financing.
